Ski Touring & Backcountry Skiing

Below the Pico de Cartujo. Great ski touring above Granada in the Sierra Nevada The ultimate way to travel in the mountains! With good snowsure conditions from December to May, the Sierra Nevada is one of Europe's best areas to learn the basics of travelling through the high mountains on skis. It is backcountry skiing at its finest! We run both beginners courses and also trips for the more experienced. The course is suitable for those with some previous on piste experience who are also strong mountain walkers. We can provide skies, skins and poles as part of the holiday cost. We also run trips for those who have tried ski mountaineering before but who wish to expand their skills and experience.

Guided snowshoeing holidays in the forests above Lanjaron During the winter months snow is in abundance; and with great trails offering wonderful scenery, snowshoers will find this a wonderful destination. Moreover, snowshoers of every level of skill and experience will find plenty of trails to meet their desires and needs. If youve never tried it....you should! Its good fun and very easy to learn. From high start points to the north of the Veleta (3394 m) peak we have easy access to high snow bowls where the basics can be learnt. After the brief learning curve we can then ascend some simple peaks. Longer tours can be found to the south of the range, including the highest peak in mainland Spain...Mulhacen (3483 m). Skijoring with your dog

Ok, it was just an idea. Sounded great. Get a husky and train it to pull us uphill on skis. It's a large and growing sport evidently in North America and Scandanavia. Well we may live in the driest part of Europe, but if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us. Right? Couldn't be too hard to train a husky because that's what they do isnt it?
